What it involves

Neck lifting addresses loose skin and underlying structures. A plan may include treatment of neck muscle bands or localized fat. Liposuction alone and a neck lift address different causes of fullness.

Risks and limitations

Risks include bleeding, infection, asymmetry, persistent swelling, numbness and poor healing. Nerve injury can affect lower-lip movement. General anesthesia and clotting risks also need individual assessment.

Recovery and follow-up

Dressings or drains may be used. Swelling can persist beyond the first stage of healing. Follow the surgical team’s positioning and activity instructions and obtain a contact for new concerns.

Questions for your consultation

Is my concern skin, muscle or fat? Where are the incisions, and what changes might remain after surgery?
