What it involves
A facelift repositions facial tissues to address laxity and jowls. Mini, SMAS and deep-plane labels describe different extents or techniques; they do not guarantee a better result. A facelift does not stop aging or treat every skin-quality concern.
Risks and limitations
Bleeding under the skin, infection, poor healing, skin loss, nerve injury, altered sensation and unfavorable scars are possible. Smoking and other health factors need discussion with the surgical team.
Recovery and follow-up
Early bruising, tightness and swelling can hide the eventual contour. Arrange follow-up and practical help at home. Ask how long work and exercise restrictions may last for the proposed operation.
Questions for your consultation
Which tissues and areas will be treated? Why this technique? Will the neck be included, and who handles a complication?
