What it involves

A lip flip uses botulinum toxin around the upper lip so that more of the lip may be visible. It does not physically add the volume that filler adds. The effect is temporary and depends on muscle movement.

Risks and limitations

Temporary muscle weakness can affect drinking, speaking or keeping the lips closed. Bruising and an uneven result are possible. Treatment around the mouth needs a clinician who can assess function as well as appearance.

Recovery and follow-up

The effect develops over days and later wears off. Ask when to review the result and how to contact the treating team if movement feels impaired. A static simulation cannot predict speaking, smiling or drinking.

Questions for your consultation

Would changing movement address my goal? How does a lip flip differ from filler or a lip lift for my anatomy?
